Detecting Lung Cancer Before Symptoms Appear

Lung Cancer can go undiagnosed for years without noticable symptoms. Typically people may not know they have lung cancer until symptoms appear, and then it is often too late. If detected early lung cancer can be treated more successfully, potentially prolonging life. Lung Watch is a screening program that assesses risk factors to determine if an individual should be screened regularly for lung cancer.

With the knowledge gathered from screening risk factors, a spiral CT scan may be reccommended. This scan which can detect nodules on the lungs, is provided to Lung Watch participants at no cost.

If needed, cases are referred to a Lung Watch navigator and also presented at the lung tumor conference where a comprehensive team of medical professionals will determine a plan of care. Support groups and social workers are also available.
