Surgical Services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (North Campus)
The North Campus offers a variety of surgical services. Our qualified surgeons perform the most advanced surgical procedures both inpatient and outpatient. From minimally-invasive endoscopic surgeries to advanced procedures, our physicians perform a wide variety of specialized surgical procedures.
Our surgery team utilizes the surgical methods, including endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, to minimize pain and recovery time. Many procedures are now offered as outpatient surgery, minimizing the patient's time at the facility and promoting a quick return to their normal routine.
North Campus offers one of the most significant advancements in surgical medicine in decades: Two new incisionless surgical procedures, StomaphyX and EsophyX, are being performed exclusively at the North Campus.
StomaphyX is the newest form of bariatric surgery. This innovative procedure requires no cutting, so no staples or stitches are needed to close wounds. The result is a low-risk procedure with minimal pain and quick recovery time.
A new option for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is now available called transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) using the EsophyX device. TIF creates a valve between the stomach and esophagus to reduce hiatal hernia and restore the anatomy to reduce or prevent reflux.
By using endoscopes during both these procedures, surgeons can access the interior of the body through the mouth and avoid making incisions in the body wall. Thus, incisionless surgery prevents scars outside, results in fewer scars inside, and eliminates other complications that can occur when the skin and muscle walls are cut.
Through the services of Dr. Joe Harris "Tripp" Morgan, the North Campus offers a wide range of vascular surgery options not previously available in this region. Providing the most up-to-date techniques to treat vascular patients, Dr. Morgan provides diagnosis and treatments for vascular problems that only a few years ago were deemed unsolvable.
Vascular surgery includes treatment of all vessels outside the heart and brain. This specialty is dedicated to the care of patients with disorders of the circulatory system. These diseases are managed largely through surgical intervention.
